Title: Fan-N-Pick Source:

Kagan Cooperative Learning Structures for Success

Brief Summary: This Cooperative Learning structure is designed to ensure 100% engagement by all students.

 Supplies needed:
• Groups of 3-4 students
• List of 8-10 questions, numbered. (These can be from your textbook or created by you.)
• Numbered index cards (to correspond to the list of questions).
 • Fan-N-Pick board for each group (with a group of 3 students, combine “pick and read” and "tutor/praise”).
• Fan n' Pick document
Steps: 1. Teammates fan, pick, respond to questions, and tutor each other when necessary.
2. Students should rotate the board after each turn so that students have a new role with each question.

Reminder(s): • This can also be used as an icebreaker activity if you use getting-to-knowyou-type questions. This can be a great way to check for understanding after a lesson in which a large amount of information has been delivered to the students. Submitted by: Best Practices Team
