This Scholastic Article has a few ideas that I really like, including:

* Sharing photos of the civil rights marches
* Creating classroom sets of the game mancala to play during indoor recess
* Focusing on famous inventors

This would be a great website to add to your class activities for kids to learn more about The Underground Railroad


The students will read a fact  or quote on the announcements each morning in honor of Black History Month: Like these:
